The 2011/2012 Uganda Communications Commission half year posts and market review puts the number of mobile subscribers at 16.6 million, which is nearly half the number of Uganda’s population. MTN alone has about 3.5 million registered mobile money subscribers and as the deadline for registering mobile subscribers fast approaches, the Mobile Network Operators are scrambling to have all their clients registered.
