And with that, the giant Chinese smartphone maker officially has physical presence in the country. Initially, one had to order many of their products online through e-commerce site Jumia but now, the store keeps stock of around 300 items from the OEM. I’m talking everything from smart toothbrushes to backpacks, official accessories and everything in between. I for one, am super excited for their new and upcoming smartphones like the Xiaomi Mi A3, the CC9 and many other future devices as the company is well known worldwide for making devices that punch well above their price-tag in terms of build quality and specs.
Repairs and Warranty claims
Speaking to one of their reps during the launch, I think one of the most underated advantages of having a physical store location is the ease of getting your broken device repaired. I know many people who have stuck to brands like Samsung and Transsion’s Infinix and Tecno just because of the ease of getting spare parts and servicing. With this store, users can bring over their devices and have the services done by the OEM.
More Mi Home Stores are coming
Xiaomi says it is looking to launch even more Mi Home stores in Nairobi with eyes set on the Sarit Centre and Westgate shopping malls in Westlands and somewhere in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
